Ana Cristina Alvarez, known artistically as “ANA CRISTINA”, is a Cuban-American singer who was born June 2 in Miami. She is known for her bluesy contralto vocals and rare “Whistle Register”. Ana writes songs in the Pop/Soul genre with the help of the guitar and piano. She has worked with several Grammy award winning music producers throughout her career and was signed by Sony Music at the age of 15 where she first began recording music in the Spanish language. Ana started her career by performing as a child on the long running Univision variety show, “Sabado Gigante” from the ages of 6 to 13.At the age of 19, she became the first Hispanic woman in history to perform the “Star Spangled Banner” at a Presidential Inauguration in 2005 and won the title of Miss South Florida USA in 2011.Ana most notably gave a performance in 2006 at the White House in honor of Hispanic Heritage month serenading the President of the United States, the Crowned Prince of Spain and notable world ambassadors in the East Room with her potent voice. That same year, she recorded the theme song for the World Cup Germany 2006 for the Univision Network titled “You Can Change the World” and its bilingual counterpart “El Mundo Puedes Cambiar”. Ana Cristina has also headlined the Calle Ocho Music Festival in Miami and has performed at NFL, MLB, NBA games, Madison Square Garden, The Sony Ericsson, as well as during both New York and Miami fashion week. She has interviewed and performed multiple times on Univision and Telemundo network talk shows and has been featured in such publications as Cosmopolitan in Espanol, Glamour en Espanol, the cover of the Miami Herald to name a few. She is a prominent member of the Cuban-American /Latin community and in 2012, she was featured in Billboard En Espanol’s “Hottest Latin Female Singers Under 30” list.
Ana’s charisma and incredible passion for life are what define her personality. She has been interested in theatre and acting all of her life and has studied at many institutions in Florida, at the university and upon moving to Los Angeles, studied at Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica. Ana has two sisters, Marisa and Aileen who are 13 and 10 years her senior. She enjoys staying fit by doing yoga, hiking and cycling. Her hobbies include dancing, cooking, watching movies, swimming, traveling and anything that has to do with the water. Ana Cristina graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2010.
Ana currently resides in Los Angeles where she continues to perform as well as pursue opportunities in TV, Film and Music.
